Monrovia, Liberia – The Executive Chairman of the Liberia Special Economic Zones Authority (LSEZA), Prince Wreh, on Wednesday hosted the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco to Liberia, His Excellency Mr. Lahoucine Rahmouni, and Counselor Houssain Asrouti at the LSEZA headquarters in Monrovia. The high-level meeting marked a renewed effort to strengthen bilateral relations and foster trade and investment between Liberia and Morocco.
During the discussions, both parties explored opportunities for collaboration in agriculture, industrialization, trade, and public-private partnerships, with a shared focus on leveraging Liberia’s Special Economic Zones (SEZs) as strategic platforms for investment and industrial growth.
Chairman Wreh highlighted Liberia’s comparative advantages, including vast arable land, abundant natural resources, and a youthful workforce, positioning the country as a promising destination for Moroccan investors. He emphasized that LSEZA’s mission is to create a conducive business environment that stimulates industrial development and facilitates long-term partnerships with international investors.
“Liberia is open for business, and our Special Economic Zones provide the ideal ecosystem for sustainable industrial growth,” Chairman Wreh said. “We see Morocco as a strategic partner in advancing this vision through mutually beneficial investments that support job creation and infrastructure development.”
Ambassador Rahmouni commended LSEZA’s forward-looking agenda and reaffirmed Morocco’s commitment to deepening cooperation with Liberia. He underscored his government’s readiness to encourage Moroccan investors to explore opportunities within Liberia’s SEZs, particularly in sectors that align with Morocco’s expertise and development priorities.
“The Kingdom of Morocco values its friendship with Liberia,” Ambassador Rahmouni noted. “We are ready to work hand-in-hand with the LSEZA to advance initiatives that promote economic transformation, industrialization, and sustainable development.”
The meeting concluded with a traditional gowning ceremony, during which the Moroccan Ambassador was gowned by Chairman Wreh — a gesture symbolizing friendship, mutual respect, and the beginning of a stronger partnership between the two nations.
The Ambassador expressed his appreciation for the honor, describing the gowning as a “meaningful expression of Liberian hospitality and cultural diplomacy.”
