Lonestar Cell MTN Launches MoMo Cook-off to Boost Local Commerce and Celebrate Mothers

Lonestar Cell MTN will host the MoMo Mother’s Day Cook-off & Discount Market on Friday, May 31, at Invincible Park in Monrovia, blending culinary entertainment with digital finance and local enterprise promotion.

Set to begin at 12:00 PM, the event will feature food vendors, small business booths, and a cooking competition designed to spotlight Liberian culture while encouraging the use of the MoMo App, the company’s mobile money platform. Shoppers using MoMo will receive a 30% discount on purchases made during the event.

“We are celebrating mothers in a meaningful way—through food, community, and financial empowerment,” said a Lonestar Cell MTN spokesperson. “By integrating MoMo into the experience, we’re making digital payments more accessible and relevant to everyday life.”

The event comes amid growing mobile money adoption across Liberia. By incentivizing MoMo usage, the company aims to deepen digital inclusion and expand financial access, particularly among small-scale vendors and informal sector traders.

In addition to the cook-off, the market will include live entertainment, giveaways, and on-site MoMo registration. The event is expected to attract strong community participation and offer valuable exposure to local, women-led businesses.

The MoMo Cook-off is part of Lonestar Cell MTN’s broader campaign to promote financial literacy and support Liberia’s microenterprise economy through technology.

Consumers are encouraged to download the MoMo App via Google Play or the App Store and signed up : https://bit.ly/3qrjfc5
