Eighteen financial professionals from Liberia’s Ministry of Finance and Development Planning (MFDP) have departed for China to participate in a high-level seminar on financial planning and management, according to a statement issued by the Ministry on Tuesday.
The training, which runs from June 4 to 17, 2025, will be hosted in Beijing by the Central University of Finance and Economics under a technical cooperation program between Liberia and the People’s Republic of China.
According to the MFDP, the seminar aims to build capacity in key areas of public finance, economic planning, and fiscal governance. Participants will also undertake study visits to the cities of Tianjin and Chongqing, where they are expected to observe China’s financial governance systems and administrative frameworks.
“This initiative reflects our commitment to institutional development and international cooperation aimed at achieving more efficient and transparent public financial management,” the MFDP said in its statement.
The Ministry noted that the delegation includes staff from critical departments such as Fiscal Affairs, Budget, Economic Management, Development Planning, Administration, and the Office of the Comptroller and Accountant General.
Participants were also encouraged to prepare knowledge-sharing materials to actively contribute to mutual learning exchanges with their Chinese counterparts.
The MFDP emphasized that the training is part of its broader efforts to strengthen Liberia’s public financial institutions through exposure to global best practices and targeted professional development.
“This opportunity not only builds individual competencies but also enhances the Ministry’s capacity to deliver results-driven economic governance,” the statement concluded.
